James Sutton says that winning the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB title is the greatest achievement of his racing career to date.
Sutton, who will celebrate his 26th birthday later this week, won the crown for the second time in five seasons after a superb campaign for the SAS/Redline team. In a thrilling conclusion at Silverstone on Sunday (16 October), Sutton pipped team mate Michael Meadows and Stephen Jelley to the title after an incredibly hard fought season.
Sutton scored three wins and a further 11 podiums in the 19-race season and said that it was a fiercely competitive season. He first won the Carrera Cup title in 2007, his first season in the championship, and finished runner-up in 2009. The London-based racer says that this has been the toughest season in the Carrera Cup GB.
“It was a very tough season and I consider this the biggest achievement of my career so far, based purely on the people I’ve had to compete against. To finally come away with the title feels fantastic. We had to work hard to make this year happen in the first place.
