Harbour Cars Carrera Cup driver Michael Caine came much closer to his usual form at Oulton Park with a pair of 4th place qualification times for rounds 7 & 8 that he later converted to two 4th place finishes.
Caine pushed for a podium finish all the way but the 2010 runner up was unable to quite clinch a top three result in either race.
This welcome improvement in pace follows a succesion of problems he has had with his new 450 BHP 3.8 Litre 2011 Race Car. Caine’s car initially suffered differential problems, then his car was badly damaged when he was hit by another driver in a qualifying session and all along he has found his car down on engine power.
Differential, engine and bodywork rebuilds behind him he can now look forward to round nine of the Carrera Cup GB as part of the Porsche Carrera World Cup at the Nurburgring in Germany on the 25th June.
