Model Description

Porsche 911

(997.2) 3.8 C4'S' Cabriolet

The first generation of 997 hatched in late 2004 for the 2005 Model year and was warmly greeted with its curves & styling changes such as rounded lights more in line with earlier 911 than its immediate predecessor the 996.
Although the 997 model had many successes and great attributes sought to this date, there were concerns over Gen1 engines, specifically potential IMS bearing failure and the cylinder lining material causing premature Bore-scoring.
The answer to this was the Gen2 997 which came out in late 2008 with an all new DFi Direct Fuel Injection engine that did away with an intermediate shaft and therefore had no IMS bearing and had new cylinder lining material that has proven robust long term. As well as the reassurance provided with the Gen2 engines they were both more fuel efficient and more powerful too, with the 3.6 Carrera producing 345 BHP and the 3.8 Carrera ‘S’ 385 BHP. Additionally the dual clutch PDK gearbox replaced the old Tiptronic Automatic. The PDK actually shaved 0.2secs off the 0-60mph times against the manual. Exterior styling changes included revised rear lights and bumpers. The new interior featured touchscreen PCM and optional Bluetooth.
Because the all new PDK was such a new and fashionable option few people ordered the Gen2 997 as a manual, even if it suited their driving style, and this has left very few manual cars available second hand which in turn now places them at a premium.
This rare manual, being a Carrera 4, therefore features the wider body and in Gen2 form the iconic full width rear reflector. The options list even has the Factory Hardtop - rarely seen since the item stopped being standard after the 996. A lovely example with just 2 owners from brand new and a full and comprehensive service history.
